Sensitivity Responsibility Trustworthiness Attitude |
The Spartan Award is given by a classroom teacher and presented to a student who consistently exhibits those qualities that exemplify the best in a St. James student. A student can be awarded this honor only once in Lower School, and once in Middle School. |
It has been
a joy to watch this young lady mature and become more independent this
year. From the moment she walks into the classroom, this young lady
prepares and organizes herself for the day. Her work is always neat,
perhaps beautiful is a better description; it is apparent that she strives
to do her best on all of her class work and homework assignments. She allows her creative spirit to flow as she looks for answers to problems and she enjoys sharing those new ideas with the class. She is honest, responsible, dependable, polite and generous. She is always ready to help others in a kindly manner. Her sweet spirit and bright happy smile brighten the classroom. This girl loves her family and enjoys spending time with them. This future Editor-in-Chief of Vogue magazine displays the Spartan attitudes that will carry her to success in all her future ventures. I am proud to recommend Mary for a Spartan award |

It is a pleasure and a privilege to teach this
young man. From the time he walks in the classroom in the morning, he
is ready to meet the challenges of the day. Each task that he is required
to complete is completed in a neat, organized, well-thought out manner.
He rarely misses a problem even though he completes his work quickly. He is a good friend to all his classmates. In addition to having earned the respect of his peers in the classroom, he is respected on the playground for his sense of fairness. he excels at any sport in which he participates. This student has a love of history that he displays in class discussions where his knowledge of history is appreciated. He thinks out of the box, and enjoys playing with new ideas about history. This Texas A&M fan cherishes his family and it shows. In the future, I am certain that we will read about this student and the great things that he is accomplishing in life because of the positive attitudes he displays. The fifth grade is lucky to have such a wonderful student, leader and friend in our classroom. Thank you, NICK , for the Spartan attitude with which you live your life. |
| A student’s time here at St. James
is filled with many fond memories — and so is a teacher’s. Many students pass through our doors, and on rare occasions we see a student that has very special skills. The young man we honor today not only embodies all the characteristics of a true SPARTAN, but he is truly the heart and soul of our class. His hard work and perseverance is a model for all students. If this were not enough, his unique sense of humor never fails to raise the spirits of our class. The stories that come to mind when thinking of this student will last a life time. Today we present a Spartan Award to a truly unique student. |

May 13, 2008 Choosing just one student from so many
wonderful students is a difficult task. Many of my students have already
earned a Spartan Award, and it would be easy to give them another one.

Chipper This young man does his work without comment, and then finds something to do quietly while I work with others. He is always willing to help me with projects and is capable of doing so without much direction or supervision. Many of these projects require some technical expertise, which he has!
