Sunny Wright
Sunny Wright has been a much loved art instructor at St. James since 1991. She combines her award winning artistic talents with her love of people and nature into realistic paintings - and sparks the same love of art in her students. She is a respected juror for many area art competitions, and has also held appointments as Director of Fine Arts for the Four States Fair, secretary for the Fine Arts Consortium and volunteer coordinator for "Sunny's Showcase", helping local artists to display their art in area businesses. She is a member of the Texarkana Art Club, Irving Art Association and the Artists and Craftsman Association of Dallas. Mrs. Wright has also been named as the personal selection of Governor Mike Huckabee to paint his official portrait which will hang in the State Capitol Rotunda in Little Rock, Arkansas. Sunny is truly a ray of SUNNYshine to both St. James students and faculty.Sunny and husband Ron have two grown children, Christopher and Jenny. Daughter Jenny, a St. James alumnus, is currently attending University of Arkansas and majoring in Psychology with a minor in Art Therapy. Christopher is completing his doctorate in Middle Eastern History and Religions at University of California Santa Barbara. He and wife Eden are parents of Sunny's "wonderful and talented" grandchildren, Brittany and Zachary, who are sure to be future artists also!

Matisse - Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was a French artist who painted with strange shapes and bright colors in a style called "fauvism" (which means "wild beast" in French) because his work was so wild and expressive. He was also famous for collage (pictures made from glued together shapes).
medium - the material that is used in an artwork (watercolor, oil, pastel, etc.)
negative space - shape of the air around the object
positive space - shape of the object itself
stained glass - pieces of colored glass joined together with a material such as lead to form a design.
